KARACHI: Following the court orders, Rana Kashif Shahzad, Executive Officer Cantonment Board Clifton has initiated action against illegal encroachments in Gizri area of the metropolis, which were causing congestion in traffic flow under Gizri Bridge.
Heavy machinery was used to dismantle the encroachments. According to CBC officials, with the help of heavy machinery illegal settlements of hotels, shops, and hawkers were removed during the operation.
Head of CBC anti-encroachment cell Col. (R) Adil Feroze supervised the operation, who told media that the action against illegal encroachments is being carried out on the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He further told that after removing all the encroachments, vigilance team would monitor the area and would not let these encroachments to reemerge. Moreover, CBC officials have warned the shop keepers of stringent action and penalties if they again indulged in such practices in future.***
