Commissioner for settling LG affairs by 10th

SARGODHA: Commissioner Sargodha Dr Farah Masood Thursday directed the Deputy Commissioners of Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Khushab for settling the affairs of Local Government (LG) for transferring power under new LB system 2019. Addressing a meeting of Divisional Transitional Committee (DTC), the Commissioner said the powers, liabilities and assets under New Local Government system 2019 will be transferred to the elected representatives, saying that in this connection no negligence will be tolerated. ADC Shahbaz Hussain Naqvi, Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Abdullah Nayyer Sheikh, Director LG Chaudhry Ilyas, Deputy Director LG Chaudhry Hanif and DCs of Bhakhar, Mianwali and Khushab attended the meeting through video link. Dr Farah Masood has directed for operating the accounts of Tehsil councils so as the activities could be started for taking steps to resolve the problems of general public. The commissioner directed the DCs of all the districts for starting rationalisation of banned staff and officers of district councils, She said surplus staff should be appointed in municipal committees and other institutions of development of local government. The commissioner further said and warned that nepotism in institution will not be accepted adding that new local bodies system has much importance regarding public service and no interference will be tolerated.

Three killers get death sentence: Additional Sessions Judge Sikandar Javed Thursday awarded death sentence to three accused involved in a murder case of Shahpur Sadr police. Accused Shah Nawaz of Shahpur Sadr along with his five accomplices, including Aun Muhammad, Farooq, Khawar Ali, Iqbal and Sabir had murdered their opponent Kazim Bloch over an enmity in 2018. The court awarded death sentence to Shah Nawaz, Aun Muhammad and Farooq and imposed collective fine to the tune of Rs 0.9m on them as compensation money. The judge acquitted co-accused Khawar Ali, Iqbal and Sabir giving them the benefit of the doubt.
