Customs officials booked for Rs140m fraud
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday registered a case against officials of Pakistan Customs over the charges embezzling Rs140 million worth foreign currency.
The FIA has registered the case against inspector Customs and in-charge warehouse of valuable godown Lahore Khalid Parvaiz Bhutta and former in-charge Muhammad Yousaf Khan and others. It is learnt that a complaint was lodged by Pakistan Customs against misappropriation of foreign currency valuing more than Rs 140 million during tenure of 2012 -2019. After which the FIA started its investigation. During the probe both the officials were found skeptic and both were unable to justify missing foreign currency. Under the directions of Director FIA Punjab Zone 1 Rizwan a joint investigation team has been constituted led by Additional Director Kamran Ali to probe this matter further.
