Cops directed to be polite with citizens

LAHORE: DIG Operations Wing Lahore Rai Babar Saeed visited Mughalpura Police Station here on Wednesday.

Mughalpura SHO Inspector Tahir Mehmood and other officers briefed the DIG. The DIG inspected lockup, barrack, front desk, record room and other sections of the police station. The DIG said police stations are the face of the department and it should be our top priority to provide justice to the citizens. He said every complainant visiting the police stations is VVIP and it is mandatory for us to give him due respect and honour. He checked the attendance of the staff and cleanliness of the police station. He directed the officers and officials to behave politely with the citizens and complainants.

NH&MP: National Highway and Motorways Police (NH&MP) officers, Training College Sheikhupura, visited PPIC3, Qurban Lines. The 40-member delegation was apprised of functions and structure of the premier project of Punjab Safe Cities Authority by DSP Asghar Guraya. The under-training officers of NH&MP appreciated the technologies and practices in place as were demonstrated to them in details, especially about Intelligent Traffic Management System and Electronic Challaning.

Rapist, others arrested: Shahdra police have arrested an alleged rapist of seven-year-old girl. Police recovered the girl from a Haveli after six days of the incident. The accused identified as Naeem had kidnapped the girl and raped her in the deserted Haveli.

Police (Civil Lines Division) in their crackdowns on criminals arrested 106 criminals and recovered seven pistols, bullets, over three-kg charas and 103 liters of liquor. SP Civil Lines Division Dost Muhammad had directed the DSPs and SHOs concerned to take action against criminal gangs. Police also recovered cash from 30 criminals in action against gamblers. Moreover, 12 Proclaimed and Court Offenders of A&B categories in cases of theft, cheque dishonour fraud and other crimes were arrested.

Meanwhile, three street crime suspects were rounded up by Dolphin Squad in Mughalpura. The accused were identified as Saleem, Aftab and Naeem. They were involved in street crime. Police recovered two pistols and bullets from them.

PHP: PHP registered 208 cases against irresponsible and rash drivers, reunited two lost children to their parents and rendered 1,285 general helps.

ACCIDENTS: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 575 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these RTCs 10 people died whereas 609 were injured. Out of which, 361 people seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals.

FAREWELL: A farewell ceremony was held for 28 retiring officials of Lahore police CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed was chief guest. DIG Rai Babar Saeed, Inam Waheed and SSP Athar Waheed were also present. CCPO said the services of retiring officials will be remembered forever. He wished them well for the life ahead and presented farewell shields to them.

hit to death: A 45-year-old man was killed when a speeding car hit his bike at Bhobatian Chowk Raiwind Road here on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 responded to the emergency and handed over the body to police. The victim was identified as Abdul Aziz. The victim was on his way when a speeding car hit him. As a result, he received multiple injuries and died.

fined: Pakistan Railways Police have initiated a campaign against the passengers travelling without ticket. On the direction of Pakistan Railways Chief Commercial Manager, Mariyam Gilani the Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) started an operation against those passengers who travel without ticket with the help of the Railways staff. Under the campaign, the DCO raided Tez Gam, Karachi Express, Awam Express, Jaffar Express etc at different sections of Lahore and charged ticketless passengers. She caught 110 passengers without ticket and imposed Rs84,120 fine on them and deposited the amount to the national exchequer.
