MARDAN: Police have arrested three members of a gang and recovered weapons, a motorbike, cash and stolen phones from them, a senior police officer said.
Addressing a news conference, District Police Officer Mohammad Sajjad Khan said that upon reports of robberies, he had constituted a police party headed by DSP-City Bashir Ahmed Yousafzai, SHO Hoti Police Station Muqadam Khan, and SHO Saddar Police Station Ajab Durani. The DPO added that the police party started investigating one of the robberies that had occurred on the Ring Road wherein a driver Shaukat Hayat had been injured by robbers. He said the police party during the investigation arrested the head of the gang Niaz Wali, a resident of Charsadda, along with two other members identified as Abdullah and Iftikhar.
The official said that Niaz Wali was wanted by the police in several cases of robberies. He said that Niaz Wali also remained in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi for six months in a robbery case. The official added that the police also recovered a motorbike, two pistols used in the robberies, and three snatched mobile phones from the arrestees. Meanwhile, the DPO said, another police party arrested three alleged thieves identified as Adil, Farid Gul and Laiq Shah, who at gunpoint had snatched Rs3,23000 cash from Mohammad Hayat, owner of a medical store. He said the police also recovered a motorbike and two pistols cash from the arrested accused.
