Fata TAs

According to a media report, more than 900 fresh candidates holding post-graduate degrees, who were appointed as teaching assistants (TAs) in different colleges of KP, will be regularised soon. Their appointments will not only provide jobs to young and educated people but will have a positive and far-reaching effect on education too.
However, the fate of Fata candidates is still uncertain. A limited number of colleges, hard and scattered geographical location and insufficient lecturers demand the appointment of more TAs. But the government’s policy in this regard is hard to understand. It seems development is being deprived to Fata and its people are being kept uneducated. The global situation and our internal security situation call for an educated, peaceful Fata. Therefore, the government should review its Stone Age policies and work towards bringing Fata into mainstream. The appointment of teaching assistants keeping in view the tribal belt’s needs may be a good and positive step in this direction.
