SDG trainings for students

Islamabad:To familiarise the youth with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the way youth can contribute in achieving these goals within their sphere of influence, the Human Resource Development Network (HRDN) will hold trainings in various public sector universities.

Organized in collaboration with Oxfam under its project Empower Youth for Work (EYW), these trainings will give an overview of all SDGs to the students focusing on Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) of the SDGs for in-depth understanding.

The training will be titled ‘Sustainable Development Goals and the Youth of Pakistan.’ The first training in this regard will be held on December 30-31, 2019 with students of Quaid-i-Azam University. The trainings will be held in six universities including Quaid-i-Azam University, Bahria University, COMSATS, NUST, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Fatima Jinnah Women University and a total of 180 students will be trained under this initiative. Later on, the participants will be engaged in various social action projects at their local communities.

These trainings will not only built capacities of youth on the SDGs but will also equip them with the necessary skills to gather evidence about gaps and targets against specific SDGs and investigate about successful models and approaches that could be scaled up towards achieving relevant SDGs through influencing efforts. It will also help them establish linkages with the other national, regional and international forums of young people for influencing the progress against these goals.
