This refers to the letter, ‘Quaid’s election’ (August 27) by Dr Irfan Zafar. The writer is absolutely right in lamenting that even the Quaid would lose elections held under the present system. No wonder that Ms Fatimah Jinnah lost her contest against Ayub Khan.
Politicians who are bereft of moral compunctions cannot hold fair elections. No legislation can ensure electoral fairness and transparency. Our country is at a crossroads.
