CM resolves to promote education among women

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Thursday
expressed his firm resolve
to utilise all available resources for promotion of women education, especially higher education, in the province.
He was addressing as chief guest at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar here.
The chief minister announced to provide maximum facilities to women universities in the province.
Pervez Khattak said
the provincial government
was committed to providing equal opportunities of education to women. “Two more universities, exclusively for women, are being set up in Swabi and Mardan districts,” he added.
The chief minister also announced construction of new academic block, auditorium, sports grounds, and road for SBBWU Peshawar. He promised to provide gas connection to the university’s main campus at Larama locality near here.
The SBBWU signed MoUs with eight women universities from across the country, which included: Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, Government College Women University, Faisalabad, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University, Quetta, Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Bagh, Women University, Multan, Government College Women University, Sialkot, Lahore College for Women University, Lahore and Kinnaird College Lahore.
Heads of all these universities were also present on the occasion. The MoUs were aimed at strengthening collaboration among the female universities for joint research and publications of scientific papers and educational materials.
Speaking on the occasion, SBBWU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Razia Sultana said the universities would share the courses, graduate and undergraduate students for internships and fellowships and exchange of faculty, trainees and staff.
The function was attended by Minister for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani and a number of teachers and students of the university.
