CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Friday criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for raising the power tariff and said that it had put an additional burden on electricity consumers.
He was addressing a public gathering in Dhaki Union Council in Charsadda. On the occasion, Jamaat-e-Islami leader and former nazim Musa Khan, Ali Khan and others announced joining the QWP along with their families and supporters.
Sikandar Sherpao said the PTI government had made a repeated increase in the power and gas tariffs in the last one year, putting an additional burden of Rs600 billion on consumers.
He said that the anti-people policies of the PTI government had exposed the tall claims of the rulers, who have yet to provide any relief to the people in the face of skyrocketing inflation.
The people were struggling to feed their children, but the government was least bothered to mitigate their sufferings, the QWP leader said. “The slogan of change was a ploy to reach the corridors of power,” he maintained, adding that the people have become disenchanted with the PTI government due to its anti-people policies.
