Haris top seed in US Junior Open under-17 event
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Haris Qasim is top seed in under-17 category of the prestigious US Junior Open Squash Championships that commences from Saturday (today) at Allston, USA.
As many as 14 Pakistan players have entered their names in different age categories to play this event. The draws were released on Friday.
According to the draws, Shehryar Saleem got bye in the first round and will face Arham Izhar of Canada in the second round in the under-13 category. In the under-15 category, Saboor Khan got bye in the first round and will play against Nathan Cukierman of the US in the second round.
Abdul Majid Khan will be up against Elian Vera of the US, while Sixth seed Huzaifa Ibrahim and Humam Ahmed got byes in the first round. In the under-17 category, Haris Qasim is top seed and got bye in the first round.
Huzaifa Zahid also got bye in the first round. Khushal Riaz Khan is drawn against Roberto J Vega, Ali Sher is to face Lars Barkman of the US, and Abbas Nawaz will be playing against Philip Hyun Su of the US in the first round.
In the first round of under-19 category, Abdul Moiez is drawn against Ignacio Ugarte and Ahmad Hassan will face Jason Sano Herring. Saqib Iqbal is drawn against Joaquin Garcia and Shahab Khan will be playing against Rodrigo Parra in the first round.
