MPA submits notice in assembly for higher sugarcane price
PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ahmad Karim Kundi submitted a call attention notice in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat on Monday, asking the government to increase the prices of sugarcane from Rs180 to Rs300 per 40 kg.
In the notice, the PPP leader said that the price of sugarcane had been fixed Rs190 for 40 kg in 2018 till 2020, which was much lesser than the existing price hike and the rising rate of the dollar. He said that keeping in view the existing price hike and increasing price of sugar, the price of sugarcane should be increased to Rs300 for 40 kg to reduce the burden on the growers. The PPP leader termed the increasing price hike and weak economic condition of the country a failure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
He said the “selected” PTI government was bent upon snatching the right of living from the poor and deplored that the “inefficient” and “corrupt” rulers were still being patronized. The PPP legislator said the prices of petrol was going down in the international market but the PTI government announced only 25 paisa decrease in the prices of petrol, which was a joke with the nation. He said the rising prices of essential commodities had made life miserable for the poor.
