Two citizens wounded in separate mugging bids

Two citizens wounded during separate incidents on mugging bids in parts of the city on Monday.

According to police, a 22-year-old Fahad Hussain, son of Khalid Hussain, wounded in a firing incident took place near Baba Morr within the limits of Manghopir police station. The injured person was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. Police said that the incident took place over offering resistance on robbing bid. A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.

In another similar incident, another man identified as 40-year-old Habibullah, son of Gul Khan, was wounded in a firing incident took place near Chakar Hotel within the jurisdiction of Site Superhighway police station. The injured person was transported to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. Police said that the incident took place when the victim offered resistance on mugging bid. A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.

A day earlier on Sunday, two suspected criminals were caught and beaten up by a crowd in District East. According to police, the suspects were on a motorcycle and they were robbing a citizen near Madras Chowk in Scheme 33 within the remits of the Sacchal police station when a citizen, Rehmat Shah, hit them with his car.

The suspects fell on the road and were caught by the people nearby who severely thrashed them before police arrested them.

Man tortured to death

The body of a man was found near from Sunday Bazaar in Ayub Goth within the limits of the Sohrab Goth police station on Monday. Responding to information, rescuers and police reached the crime scene and transported the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. The man was identified as 45-year-old Muhammad Ashraf, son of Allah Din.

Police said the victim was a resident of the Nazimabad locality of District Central. He added that unidentified persons had kidnapped Ashraf and tortured him to death. They said they were investigating a case from different angles.
