Girl kills self over petty issue

LAHORE :A 22-year-old girl committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in the Sanda area on Sunday.

It was reported that the girl ‘H’ had swallowed poisonous pills over a domestic issue, as a result of which her condition went critical. She was taken to hospital where she expired. Police shifted the body to morgue.

Two men shot at: Two persons were shot at and wounded in the Nishtar Colony area on Sunday following a monetary issue. The injured persons identified as Liaqat and Ismael were admitted to hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger. The injured man Liaqat had a monetary issue with the accused Malik Kamran.

road accident: Three persons, including two women received injuries in a collision between a rickshaw and a passenger van in Chuhng area on Sunday. The head-on collision between the rickshaw and the van had taken place due to smog. The injured rickshaw riders identified as Kausar Bibi, Aneela and Shafqat were admitted to hospital.

Three injured: Three persons were injured after a speeding bus dashed into a rickshaw on Peco Road on Sunday. On being informed, the rescuers rushed to the scene and shifted the injured persons to hospital where condition of one of them was said to be critical. Police registered a case against the bus driver on negligence charges.

Man arrested on rape charges: Sundar police arrested a man on charges of raping a teenage girl. The accused was identified as Ramzan. The girl’s mother alleged that her brother-in-law Ramzan had raped her daughter.

CTO monitors traffic flow: CTO visited different parts of the city on Sunday and checked the flow of traffic. He visited Shadiwal Chowk, Canal Road, main boulevard Gulberg, Jail Road, and Mall Road. He admonished the wardens for slow moving traffic on Campus Bridge and main boulevard Gulberg.

210 accused arrested: Rajanpur police arrested 210 accused including 104 proclaimed offenders and recovered drugs and unlicensed weapons last month. According to the Rajanpur DPO, during the last month 319 FIRs were registered and 210 accused were arrested and items worth Rs1,825,400 were recovered. Snap checking and search operations were also being conducted across the district to uphold the rule of law and uproot criminal elements.

26 arrested: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) arrested 26 drug pushers and illicit arms carriers during the last week. During a general hold up PHP officials from Patrolling post 773/GB Toba Tek Singh arrested two persons and recovered 37kg charas from their car.
