Firdous takes a jab at Bilawal, Ahsen
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Tuesday blasted PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for linking legislation in the Parliament with his political agenda, advising him to think beyond political blackmailing.
Dr Awan, while also addressing PML-N Secretary General Ahsen Iqbal, said that for how long he would try to defend corruption and keep on telling lies while the ‘misdeeds’ of Mian Shahbaz Sharif were now unfolding, as the institutions in Pakistan were today free and independent. “Linking their activities with the government is extremely unfortunate,” she emphasised.
In tweets, she said it was the fundamental responsibility of the Parliament to legislate. However, she maintained that linking it with the political agenda was un-parliamentary, unconstitutional and undemocratic.
She called upon the PPP chairman to ponder over the matters while rising above the political blackmailing. She asserted that using the Parliament for political blackmailing was highly negative and contrary to the claims of the PPP. “The opposition previously used to allege that the matters pertaining to legislation are not being taken seriously and now when the juncture of legislation is around, the opposition is attempting to run away from it,” she regretted. She said those who tried to create hurdles in the way of legislation aimed at national interests would be considered opportunists.
Dr Awan said Prime Minister Imran Khan was fighting for the cause of Pakistan and combating corruption and this perturbed the opposition.
