PESHAWAR: Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Ali Alizada, on Thursday said that direct flights between his country and Pakistan would start from next year to help strengthen bilateral trade and people-to-people contacts.
He was speaking at a meeting, chaired by Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Maqsood Anwar Pervaiz. On the occasion, both sides have agreed to make joint efforts to boost mutual trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
The participants of the meeting discussed the investment opportunities in diverse sectors and possibilities of cooperation, launching of joint ventures, exchange of business delegations, the establishment of people to people contacts between the two countries. The ambassador said Azerbaijan wanted mutual trade, economic and cultural relations with Pakistan cemented.
Ali Alizada said the core issue of Kashmir should be resolved as per UN resolutions to give people of Kashmir to their right to self-determination. Maqsood Anwar Pervaiz invited the Azari investors to make the investment in hydel power generation, oil and gas, LPG, mines and mineral, gemstones, agriculture, medicine, fruits, livestock, honey and other potential sectors.
Ali Alizada agreed to the recommendations by the SCCI president and assured him Azerbaijan would issue visas to the business community on priority basis to strengthen economic and trade ties between the two states.
