Officers’ delegation briefed on police performance

LAHORE:A delegation of the officers of the 26th Senior Management Course paid a study visit to Central Police Office.

The delegates from the National Institute of Management, Karachi, were briefed about the working, modern IT projects and operational methods of Punjab police. Punjab police are benefiting from information technology for provision of general policing and public service delivery, Additional IG Operations Punjab Inam Ghani told the delegates.

He said that timely reforms and modern projects of technology had upgraded the working system of Punjab police. He said zero-tolerance policy had been adopted against the criminals and anti-social elements in order to protect the people. He said that specialised forces like CTD, SPU, Dolphin, PRU, SOU and Anti-Roit Force had played a vital role in elimination of crimes and terrorism. With the appointment of SP complaints, the issued of delay in registration of cases have been resolved.

He said that training syllabus of the police force with respect to public dealing and stress management had been upgraded in accordance with the smart and community policing rules. He said police Khidmat Marakiz had been established in all districts of the province.

The additional IG said citizens could get more than one dozen services under one roof at Khidmat Marakiz. He said millions of the citizens benefited from Khidmat Marakiz. Kidhmat counters have also been established in all district headquarters hospitals of the province. The additional IG Operations also briefed the delegation about the operational methods and IT reforms in Punjab Police besides discussing the steps taken against terrorism and extremism.

He said the incidents of terrorism in the province had been reduced considerably due to timely actions and strategies of Punjab Police. He said CCTV cameras had been installed in the rooms of front desk, lock-ups and SHOs. The monitoring of these cameras is being done from Central Police Office.

farewell: Inspector General of Police Punjab Capt (r) Arif Nawaz Khan held a farewell video link conference at Central Police Office. All the RPOs, CPOs and DPOs participated in the conference.

The IG said, “During my stint of seven months as IG, I faced challenges but also achieved many successes by the grace of Allah Almighty.” He said he always tried not to harm anyone by his pen, power or behavior. Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Capt (r) Arif Nawaz Khan said as head of the Punjab police, elimination of crime from society, best welfare of police and easy service delivery to public were his priorities.

He thanked the officers for their support to him. The senior officers of the CPO were also present in the conference. The officers admired the services of Arif Nawaz Khan as IG, Punjab. The RPOs and DPOs acknowledged the guidance and support he provided to them.

welcomed: A civil society organisation welcomed the constitution of a parliamentary committee for protection from forced conversion, on the initiative of Chairman of the Senate and Speaker National Assembly on November 21, 2019.

Peter Jacob, an executive director of the organisation, said that the initiative was encouraging development. Jacob also offered the assistance of the civil society organisations to newly-formed committee.

“We would support upholding the freedom of religion and belief in all possible manners. We hope that the committee will come up with meaningful and precise recommendations, including the progress on impending legislation to curb coercive, forced and unethical faith conversions, coinciding with equally detestable forced marriage of the minority women against their will.

Minority girls in their adolescence have been facing threat and violence, kidnap and rape under the pretext of conversion to Islam”, Jacob stated.
