Students’ role in curbing corruption sought
LAHORE:University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) organised a seminar to create awareness among students against corruption and the role of NAB in fighting this menace.
UET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, NAB Director Niaz Hassan, Additional Director Khalid Mahmood, Deputy Director Muhammad Sajid, UET officials and faculty members, staff and large number of students attended the seminar.
Addressing the seminar, Niaz Hassan recalled his memories in UET and advised the students to be proactive to eradicate corruption. He urged upon youths to be custodian of their homes by not letting their parents to live beyond their means. This, when practiced religiously, would eliminate every reason of corruption. He revealed that until now NAB has recovered Rs326 billion. He said each individual would have to pass through process of self-accountability to curb corruption in every sphere of life.
Pakistan is bestowed with abundance of resources. Misuse of these resources, bribery and such practices are the major hurdle to process of making Pakistan corruption-free state, he said.
Muhammad Sajid advised the students to read the NAB Ordinance very carefully to keep themselves updated on this vital legislation for national reconstruction.
