LAHORE:Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed a factory for producing adulterated spices and sauces of popular brands in the provincial metropolis here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the team has confiscated more than 2,000kg unwholesome food during special raid. PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman said that the food safety team on the tip-off vigilance raided the Imami Ketchup & Sauces factory in the area of Wagah Town and caught them red-handed manufacturing food products by using the labels of some famous brands. However, the wrong address was mentioned on the packing of the products. He said that sauces were being prepared by using artificial sweeteners, saccharine, loose colours and chemicals. It is pertinent to mention that chemically contaminated sauces were also preserved in the non-food graded drums which use strictly prohibited as per the food regulations. The raiding team recovered 1,800kg adulterated ketchup and sauces, 150kg starch, eight kilograms loose colours and chemicals.
