IG orders crackdown on kite flying

LAHORE:A session chaired by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Captain (r) Arif Nawaz Khan was held at Central Police Office to review the crime situation in Lahore.

The IG directed the police officials to take strict action against those involved in kite flying, in preparation of kites and mettalic string, sale, purchase and use of such material.

A campaign against criminals and reduction in crimes within a week should be ensured at any cost, said the IG, adding the patrolling plan and beat system of Dolphin Squad should be reorganised. He expressed serious displeasure over the death of a citizen at Mughalpura due to metallic string of kite and said that a comprehensive and effective strategy should be devised to stop kite flying across Punjab by starting a crackdown on those violating the ban on kite flying. He added that there should be no delay in taking action against those circle officers and SHOs who failed in implementing the kite flying laws in their respective areas. Noble citizens should not be perturbed during the actions against the kite dealers and operation by police, he said.

The IG directed the CCPO, Lahore, that a weekly campaign should be launched to control crimes in Lahore and intelligence-based operations should be conducted especially to arrest A-category criminals.
