KHAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Sirajul Haq said on Sunday that the government should be removed through democratic ways.

Addressing a press conference during his one day visit to the district, he said that the government should honour all the promises made with the ex-Fata people and release the Rs100 billion for the development of the newly-merged areas.

He said that despite the lapse of half-year nothing had been provided to this effect. “The government’s flawed policies have made the life miserable for the people and even tomatoes are being sold at Rs250-300 kilogram,” he said.

He said that there was only way to topple the government and that was to tender resignation, adding, the opposition leaders were not ready to do so. Regarding Kashmir, he said that his party had suggested the government to give representation to the members of the Occupied Kashmir in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. “We are against the undemocratic steps having been taken by the opposition to topple the government. We believe in democratic means. The JI will also launch its movement against the government. Everyone will see the government will go and new government with people mandate will come to power,” he said.

Haji Sardar Khan, Maulana Waheed Gul, Qari Abdul Majeed, Muhammad Sufi and others were also present on the occasion.
