PRCS to channelise youth energies

Islamabad: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) will make efforts to channelize the energies of young people and mobilise them for the betterment of the society, given that has the largest group of young people in its history.
This was stated by PRCS Secretary General Dr. Rizwan Naseer while addressing a function held to mark International Youth Day under the theme ‘Youth Civic Engagement,’ here.
Dr. Naseer said, PRCS believes in youth as agents of behavioural change, and in order to achieve this objective, it is in the process of developing a strong volunteer corps within each community which shall be trained to take up leadership roles as agents of change in their communities, and therefore, inspire a positive transformation of mindsets, attitudes and behaviours in favour of promoting social inclusion, safe living and culture of non-violence and peace.
Dr. Naseer said, the emphasis is on strengthening communities through recruitment of volunteers, their training, and retention. Presently, PRCS has a volunteer registration of 1.7 million and aims to increase this number to 500,000 by the end of 2015.
