Nation celebrates I-Day with zeal

BUREWALA: The nation celebrated the Independence Day with traditional zeal and fervour here on Friday.
The main ceremony of hoisting the national flag was held at Jinnah Hall, TMA office, where PML-N MPAs Ch Irshad Ahmad Arain and Muhammad Yousaf, AC Saifullah Sajid, DSP Zulfiqar Ali and TMO Rana Muhammad Naveed hoisted the national flag. A police contingent presented guard of honour while schoolchildren sung national anthem on the occasion. Later, the MPAs along with the other officers visited the THQ Hospital and distributed sweets and fruits among the patients. Meanwhile, different government and private schools and social organisations arranged colourful ceremonies where children sung national songs and delivered speeches on the importance of the day. Likewise, Pakistan Kisan Ittehad chief Malik Zulfiqar Awan led a rally of farmers took out on the Independence Day which started from their office and ended in front of the press club. Similarly, the Jamaatud Dawa workers also took out a rally on the I-Day. The people had decorated bazaars and streets with colourful lights and buntings to mark the day.
