Vegetables short at makeshift markets

Shortage of vegetables recorded in the weekly makeshift markets of the city following the wrong price fixation issue which compelled vendors to not sell various vegetables there.
The vendors openly overcharged the customers following the non-availability of number of vegetables in weekly bazaars while the market committee officials did not issue rate list cards to a number of vegetables to the vendors.
The market committee officials said that price card was issued only for those vegetables which were mentioned by the vendors to the market committee about their stocks. They said majority of vendors did not show their stock of different vegetables due to wrong price fixation. “We also overlook such situation as if the market committee strictly ask vendors to follow the official price list, then majority of items would not sold in weekly makeshift market”, they said. This week again the vendors sold rainwater damaged substandard vegetables and fruits at higher rates. None of the vegetable and fruit was sold at the official rate issued by the market committee through price list.
The price of potato new was stable at Rs25 to 28 per kg, potato sugar-free at Rs14 to 16 per kg, potato stored at Rs8 to 10 per kg, while sugar-free was sold at Rs28 per kg. The onion price was unchanged at Rs30 to 34 per kg, while mixed was sold at Rs34 to 35 per kg. The rates of tomato were increased by Rs5 per kg, reached Rs55 to 60 per kg, while rotten sold at Rs60 per kg. The price of garlic local was fixed at Rs100 to 110 per kg, garlic Chinese was increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs120 to 130 per kg, both was sold at Rs130 per kg. Ginger China was fixed at Rs150 to 160 per kg, Singapore Rs100 to 106 per kg, while both were sold at Rs200 per kg. The price of brinjal was reduced by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs20 to 23 per kg, sold at Rs25 per kg. Cucumber price was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs40 to 45 per kg, sold at Rs50 to 60 per kg.
Biter gourd was also increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed rates of Rs45 to 50 per kg. The price of spinach was enhanced by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs12 to 15 per kg, sold at Rs20 per kg. Zucchini local was declined by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs40 to 50 per kg, while rotten and rainwater affected was sold at Rs60 per kg. The price of lemon local was gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs90 to 110 per kg, but not available there while outside sold at Rs140 to 160 per kg. Pumpkin price was gained by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs22 to 25 per kg, sold at Rs40 to 50 per kg. The price of cabbage was fixed at Rs35 to 40, sold at Rs50 per kg, and cauliflower was fixed at Rs33 to 37 per kg, sold at Rs60 per kg. The price of green chilli was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs30 to 40 per kg, sold at Rs60 per kg. Capsicum price was fixed at Rs80 to 85 per kg, but not sold at its wholesale market price was fixed at Rs120 per kg. Arum price was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs40 to 50 per kg, sold at Rs60 per kg. Ladyfinger was sold at Rs60 per kg, against the official rates of Rs50 to 55 per kg. The price of different variety of apples was fixed at Rs40 to 90 per kg, while sold at Rs50 to 100 per kg. The price of plump was gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs160 to 166 per kg, sold at Rs180 per kg. The rates of Banana A quality was fixed at Rs65 to 70 per dozen, B-quality at Rs50 to 55 per dozen, sold at Rs80 per dozen.
Pomegranate local price was fixed at Rs80 to 85 per kg, sold at Rs100 to 120 per kg. Guava rate was fixed at Rs45 to 50 per kg, sold at Rs60 per kg. Peer price was fixed at Rs60 to 70 per kg, sold at Rs80 to 100 per kg. Grapes Gola Black was fixed at Rs110 to 116 per kg, grapes Sunderkhani at Rs160 to 185 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg.
