Punjab Environment Protection Department (EPD) Secretary Dr Iqbal Chuhan inspected Gulab Devi Hospital and lodged a case against the hospital MS after dengue larvae were found in many places of the hospital.
It is the first case against the head of any government hospital by the Environment Protection Department.
The secretary along with EPD Anti-Dengue Squad inspected Bundu Khan Restaurant, Liberty Market and lodged a case against the restaurant owner and its management after huge quantity of dengue larvae was found on the restaurant premises.
Heaps of garbage and abandon scrap were found there and no proper cleanliness arrangements were made by the restaurant management.
Dengue larvae were found in the scrap which was placed uncovered. Talking to the media, Secretary Iqbal Chuhan said he was astonished to see how careless the heads of these places.
Not even a single individual is ready to take responsibility to cope with dengue as multinational food chains owners don’t bother to check their premises, he said and added the government department heads had to come forward to check their premises.
Iqbal Chuhan said besides the government departments the citizens also had to come forward because without the participation of citizens, the government could not eliminate dengue.
