LAHORE
Overcrowded recreational places with overcharging for substandard food items and vehicle parking places, long and huge traffic mess at various main city roads, knee deep rainwater around mosques in various localities and humidity, were the salient features of the long Eid weekend in the provincial metropolis.
Like always, despite the fact that almost half of Lahore City and its suburbs were giving a deserted look ahead of Eid, millions of city dwellers and thousands of near-by small cities visitors took to the recreation and historical places in town with a great zeal to celebrate Eid Holiday. On first day, the half consumed and tired of ‘Chand Raat’ last minute shopping spree Lahorites took to the city mosques for Eidul Fitr prayers amid thundershower.
In many places it started raining during the Eid prayers which caused a muddy mess in various parts of the city due to the accumulation of rainwater and a lack of a quick response from the relevant civic departments responsible for draining the rainwater. However, the rain also proved to be a blessing for the people since it broke the heat and humidity spell temporarily.
After the prayers, as per tradition and a part of Muslim religion, people visited the local graveyards to offer Fateha for their departed relatives.
