Torrential rain adversely affected makeshift bazaars of the city as the management failed to provide tents to them which created unhygienic conditions.
On the other hand, mainly increasing trend was recorded in rates of fruits and vegetables this week while overcharging was also recorded in makeshift markets as well as in open market. Interestingly, overcharging was also recorded in special Ramazan bazaars where the government is more focused as compared to open market, where a free hand is given to sellers.
Next week, no makeshift market will be set up in the city due to Eid holidays while massive inflation would be witnessed in vegetables and fruits prices due to the holidays. Wholesale fruits and vegetables markets will remain closed on Eid holidays. Hence, shortage of perishable items will push their prices further upwards.
The price of potato (soft skin) increased by Rs 2 per kg, fixed at Rs 26 to 28 per kg, hard skin at Rs 10 to 12 per kg, sugar free at Rs 15 to 17 per kg, while hard skin was sold at Rs 28 per kg. Onion declined by Re one per kg, fixed at Rs 30 to 34 per kg. Tomato reduced by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 30 to 36 per kg. Garlic (China) gained by Rs 6 per kg, fixed at Rs 120 to 130 per kg, Garlic local by Rs 8 per kg, at Rs 92 to 100 per kg, while local was sold at Rs 130 per kg.
Ginger (China) reduced by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 170 to 180 per kg, ginger (Singapore) at Rs 115 to 122 per kg, while it was sold at Rs 180 per kg. Lemon was fixed at Rs 100 to 107 kg, mixed was sold at Rs 107 per kg, while A quality was sold at Rs 150 to 160 per kg.
Spinach declined by Rs 7 per kg, fixed at Rs 13 to 15 to per kg, sold at Rs 20 per kg. Brinjal gained by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 10 to 15 per kg. Cucumber local was fixed at Rs 15 to 20 per kg, sold at Rs 25 per kg. Biter gourd gained by Rs 2 per kg, fixed at Rs 20 to 22 per kg. Zucchini local was fixed at Rs 25 to 30 per kg, sold at Rs 35 to 40 per kg. Green chili gained by Rs 15 per kg, fixed at Rs 35 to 40 per kg. Capsicum increased by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 40 to 43 per kg, sold at Rs 60 per kg.
Pumpkin enhanced by Rs 5 per kg, fixed Rs 15 to 19 per kg, sold at Rs 20 per kg, while pumpkin long was sold at Rs up to 40 per kg. Luffa was fixed at Rs 15 to 20 per kg. Ladyfinger was stable at Rs 30 to 35 per kg. Arum declined by Rs 10 per kg, fixed at Rs 45 to 50 per kg. Carrot (Chinese) was fixed at Rs 40 per kg, sold at Rs 60 per kg, cabbage was fixed at Rs 30 to 35 per kg, sold at Rs 50 per kg.
Apples were fixed at Rs 70 to 262 per kg, while sold at Rs 160 to 300 per kg. Melon local was fixed at Rs 35 to 41 per kg, sold at Rs 50 per kg. Watermelon gained by Rs 5 per kg, fixed at Rs 15 to 18 per kg, sold at Rs 20 per kg. Banana A quality was fixed at Rs 90 to 96 per dozen, B-quality at Rs 60 to 65 per dozen, sold at Rs 100 to 160 per dozen. Peach Special was fixed at Rs 120 to 133 per kg, and Peach normal at Rs 75 to 82 per kg, while it was sold at Rs 100 to 135 per kg. Plump special quality was fixed at Rs 140 to 155 per kg, B-quality at Rs 80 to 85 per kg, mixed sold at Rs 120 to 160 per kg.
Apricot white special fixed at Rs 140 to 155 per kg, Apricot b-quality was sold at Rs 140 per kg. Mangoes of different varieties were fixed at Rs 45 to 110 per kg, sold at Rs 80 to 120 per kg. Litchi gained by Rs 25 per kg, fixed at Rs 190 to 200 per kg, sold at Rs 220 to 240 per kg. Dates were fixed at Rs 100 to 160 per kg, sold at Rs 160 to 240 per kg. Pomegranate local was fixed at Rs 108 to 114 per kg, sold at Rs 180 to 200 per kg. Grapes sunderkhani were fixed at Rs 200 to 220 per kg, sold at Rs 260 per kg, Grapes Gola black at Rs 100 to 120 per kg, sold at Rs 160 per kg. Jambolan was fixed at Rs 100 per kg, sold at Rs 120 to 140 per kg.
