SHO fails to register bogus cheque case despite DPO orders

JHANG: Pir Mahal police SHO has failed to register a bogus cheque case against one Mudassar despite orders of the District Police Officer (DPO).
The applicant, Muhammad Yousaf Chaudhry, a member of the Jhang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), alleged that a local politician asked the SHO not to lodge the FIR, as he would manage to withdraw the DPO orders.
Muhammad Yousaf had submitted an application for registration of an FIR under Section 489/F PPC against one Mudassar, a resident of Pir Mahal, who had given him a bogus cheque.
DPO Shehzad Akbar directed an inquiry officer, Inspector Maqbool, to probe the matter. The inquiry officer summoned both parties on 4th and 18th of June and reached the conclusion that a bogus cheque case should be registered against the accused.
The DPO directed the Pir Mahal SHO for registration of an FIR and arrest of the accused.
The applicant said he submitted an application and the original cheque, along with bank memo declaring the cheque bogus, to investigation officer ASI Saleem last week, but no case was registered till Sunday.
He demanded the IG Punjab Police, RPO Faisalabad and DPO Shehzad Akbar take notice of the situation.
Investigation Officer ASI Saleem said the FIR registration matter was pending with the In-charge SHO. As soon as the SHO will allow him, the FIR will be logged immediately, he said.
