Roots International School (RIS) representatives attended a three-day training session conducted by Samer Chidac, organised through Microsoft Pakistan here. Qudsia Fatima, Manager RIS Innovative Learning Programme, Humaira Shaheen, RIS Project Manager ICT Initiatives and Foreign Languages Coordinator, and staff members attended the workshop.
Microsoft’s intensive three-day workshop was organised for giving educators and trainers the opportunity to utilize the Microsoft Educator Professional Development resources and technology to build capacity and help students acquire 21st century skills.
Mr. Chidac, is an International Innovation Expert with Focus on Education, and holds an extensive experience of more than 15 years in the field of technology, international business & marketing, strategy and coaching & Public Speaking.
The training emphasised on exploration and utilization of professional development resources including Teaching with Technology (TwT), Innovative Teaching and 21st Century Learning Design (21CLD) with focus on the rich learning tools Microsoft offers including OneNote, Office 365, OneDrive, Windows 8.1 and Educational Applications.
The focus of first day was to increase PBL and engage the students in hands-on learning activities. The concept of v-class. Today the role of a teacher/educator is that of an architect/designer of the learning environment and later on a facilitator. Books have been replaced by Tablets, Boards have been replaced by interactive boards however the facilitators are following the same teaching/learning pedagogy only with a change of medium. Education can be Innovated by incorporation of Skills, Technology and Pedagogy, and this was the agenda of the second day at Microsoft TTT workshop. Using major Technologies in the classroom, such as Windows 8.1, Sway, OneNote, OneDrive, Office365, Photosynth, AutoCollage, World Wide Telescope, Corinth Micro Plant and many more Educational tools were introduced on 3rd Day of training, along with how to develop and use educational scenarios.
Walid Mushtaq, CEO RIS & MIUC, has a passion towards technology and he not only endorses such initiatives but also encourages his staff to indulge in such in-house and external training programmes.
