Rawalpindi: Rescue Punjab Director General Dr. Rizwan Naseer, while presiding over a meeting of rescue officers at 'Rescue 1122' Headquarters, carried out a performance review of emergency operations in all 36 districts of Punjab to ensure uniform standard of the service and smooth emergency service delivery without discrimination.
The emergency data showed that 55,826 victims of different emergencies were rescued by Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) while conducting 53,175 rescue operations in June all over the Punjab, with average response time of less than seven minutes. The meeting was attended by Director (Administration) Brigadier (r) Dr. Arshad Zia, Deputy Director (HR) Dr. Foaad Shahzad Mirza, DD (P&D) Faheem Qureshi, DD (Finance) Naeem Mukhtar, and other senior officers.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded to include: 19,033 road traffic accidents, 24,548 medical emergencies, 1,398 fire incidents, 2,124 crimes, 175 drowning incidents, 72 building collapses, 11 explosions and 5,814 miscellaneous operations. According to the statistics, out of total fires, 371 fire incidents took place in Lahore, 139 in Faisalabad, 100 in Gujranwala, 93 in Rawalpindi, 76 in Multan and 65 in Sialkot. Similarly, out of total traffic accidents, some 4,025 traffic accidents were reported in Lahore, 1,851 in Faisalabad, 1,280 in Gujranwala, 1143 in Multan and 883 in Rawalpindi, where implementation of traffic laws is strictly required.
