Necklace questions

This refers to the news report, ‘Gilani returns Turkish first lady’s diamond necklace’ (June 27). The former prime minister had conveniently kept the necklace that was meant to help flood victims and now he is describing the probe into the matter as ‘character assassination’.
Is usurping state gifts that are in fact national assets a small matter? Why did he not return the necklace before the issue attracted media’s attention? There is a need to investigate all such gifts given to our leaders from time to time during their foreign trips.
