PESHAWAR: Former chairman of the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (Nacta) and leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), Zafarullah Khan, has said all the political parties should stand by the state institutions in the action against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement if it was proved that the party was getting funds and terrorist training from abroad.
Reacting to the BBC story about MQM, he said this is not the first time that the party has been accused of getting terrorist training and killing innocent people in Karachi and elsewhere.“On so many occasions, workers of the MQM were found involved in target killings, extortions and even setting on fire hundreds of workers of a factory. However, none of the political parties spoke against the MQM, which needs to be banned if it is proved that its workers received terrorist training from India and got funds for its operations,” argued Zafarullah Khan, who also served as director general of the Federal Investigation Agency and Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police.
He said all the political parties and media should support the security forces in the action against MQM or any other group that is involved in terrorism and killing of innocent people. He claimed the MQM workers also killed thousands of people, including hundreds of Pakhtuns in targetted attacks in Karachi since the 1990s.
