DUBAI: Bangladesh moved up one place to seventh in the Reliance ICC ODI Team Rankings following their series win against India in Mirpur on Wednesday.
The 2-1 series victory put Bangladesh on 93 points, five behind sixth-ranked England and five ahead of eighth-ranked West Indies.
Bangladesh now look set to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 ahead of West Indies and Pakistan.
Mashrafe Mortaza’s men had entered the series in eighth position on 88 points, fraction of a point behind the West Indies.
India dropped from 117 to 115 but still retained their second position on the table.
BD cricketers rise: Shakib Al Hasan regained the number one spot in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI All-rounders after inspiring Bangladesh to their first bi-lateral series victory over India.
The 28-year-old Shakib scored 123 runs in the three matches (52, 51 not out and 20) and claimed three wickets for 99 runs, including two for 33 in the first ODI in Mirpur.
India’s Ravichandran Ashwin moved up two places into 10th position after claiming six wickets for 118 runs in the series.
Meanwhile, following England’s thrilling 3-2 series victory over New Zealand earlier this week, a number of players on both sides made significant gains.
Kane Williamson’s tally of 396 runs in the five matches (93, 118, 90, 50 and 57) put the 24-year-old up one place to sixth, just seven points behind Sri Lanka’s Tillikaratne Dilshan.
Ross Taylor moved up two places into ninth after scoring 375 runs (119 not out, 110, 42, 47 and 17).
Joe Root’s 274 runs, including two centuries and a fifty, took the in-form Yorkshire man up five places to 11th.
Jos Buttler moved up nine places to 17th after scoring 183 runs in four matches.
Eoin Morgan jumped 15 places to 30th thanks to 322 runs in the series, including three half-centuries and 113. Steven Finn’s eight wickets for 283 boosted his position by two places to 13th.
