It is sad to see so many people dying in Karachi due to this killer heatwave. The situation is aggravated due to the fact that Ramazan is also being observed. However, this does not mean that the government should shirk its responsibilities and allow people to die of heatwave. It is unfortunate that the governments – both federal and provincial – only woke to the tragedy when the death figure exceeded the 600 mark.
This is the result of our wrong selection of public representatives. Our legislators do not do anything that favours the common citizen. The government should do whatever it can to give relief to people. If this does not happen the death rate will simply go up further – and nobody will ever be held accountable for that.
