An alliance of specialist football organisations from the UK, ‘Aspirations All-Pakistan Football Alliance’ (APFA), announced here that it will launch its operations to serve the game in Pakistan.
In its first step, APFA is planning to launch its ‘Elite Football Academy’ and the first will open in Rawalpindi and Islamabad at a brand new complex shared with a partnering club POPO FC, which will initially cater players from ages 10 to 25 before the starting programmes for players aged 4 to 12.
POPO FC, also known as PFC, is an amateur football club, based in Islamabad. POPO FC was founded in July 2012 by a group of local school, college and university students, together with couple of professionals from the field of IT and marketing as mature players.
In the beginning, the strength of the club was 14 and now over the span of almost three years, due to its good name and success stories in the local football circle, its strength has increased to a total of around 102. POPO FC manages this strength by dividing the whole club into 4 sub-teams (i.e. PFC: The senior most, PFC-under 18, PFC-under 16 and PFC-under 14).
The only club owns its own football ground, a facility for under 14 boys to train and lift the name of football which lately geared up in Pakistan.
The growing need of sports in the society and a motivated group of youngsters developed a facility of its own kind, PFC ground is not just a football field but a learning facility for all the youngsters.
The club have been able to have gathered and are attracting even more youngsters and mature players, who are just passionate about the game and are looking forward to take their club, and this sport to national level, and in future, if mentored by a dignitary, ‘to an international level’.
