Chabahar Port exempted from US sanctions on Afghan request

KABUL: US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells has announced the US approval of Kabul application for exempting Chabahar Port from the US sanctions.
Alice Wells made the remarks in a meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani in Kabul on Monday.
Foreign Minister Rabbani appreciated the US for continuing assistance to his country.
Referring to Afghanistan peace talks, he said that internal and regional consensus had a significant role in achieving sustainable peace.
Alice Wells arrived in Kabul on Sunday and has so far held talks with President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah.
