Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Barrister Usman Ibrahim on Thursday directed the relevant officials to ensure the making of the boundary walls of the Federal Directorate of Education schools and colleges un-scalable within two months by increasing their height.
The directive was issued during a meeting at the division here. Besides CADD Secretary Khalid Hanif, the relevant officials of the division, FDE, Planning and Development Division and Pak-PWD also attended the meeting.
The relevant officials informed the minister about the current status of the school boundary wall project.
They said initially, 23 educational institutions working under FDE were selected for increase in height of boundary walls, repair of existing ones or constructing new ones. The officials said CADD had allocated Rs182 million in the current fiscal year to take sufficient security measures for FDE educational institutions.
The minister directed the officials to expedite the process and initiate the process of bidding under the PPRA rules so that quality and transparency could be ensured. He also asked the FDE bosses to make the project execution plan within two days, while height of school boundary walls should be increased to eight feet within two months to make them un-scalable.
The minister ordered formation of an FDE team to continuously monitor the project and identify problems for resolution.
