Quality education, health priority: CM

LAHORE The ceremonies of inauguration of Government Postgraduate College for Women, Station Road and giving the status of University to Government Postgraduate College for Women were held here Friday.

Addressing on the occasion, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said providing quality education and health facilities to the residents of the province was the top priority of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government. He said that women’s education was vital for development of any nation and the Punjab government was setting up another women university. He said Rawalpindi was his own city after Dera Ghazi Khan and now Rawalpindi would have second university after Fatima Jinnah University. He announced that Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology would be upgraded to the Cardiac Vascular Disease Centre while Rs50 billion would be spent on the construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road Project. He said Institute of Kidney Transplant would be completed soon while to overcome the flood like situation in monsoon and to decrease the traffic load on city roads, work on Leh expressway would be kicked off shortly.

Buzdar said to make the city more beautiful, funds had been transferred to Parks and Horticulture Authority and city would present a new look when he would return to city again. The chief minister said youths are the guarantee of the bright future of Pakistan. It is our job to provide the best resources and we will continue doing this job. He said powers would be transferred at grass root level and Local Governments Act would be presented in the next assembly session for approval. Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed lauded the CM for allocating funds for Rawalpindi on his request and said under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan Rawalpindi would be made more developed city of the country.

On the occasion, Sheikh Rashid announced donating the Lal Haveli to the newly-upgraded Women University. The minister said the country’s future linked with the educated mothers and if we do not educate women, our future will be dark as an educated mother can bring up their children in a better way.

Quetta blast: Usman Buzdar has strongly condemned a blast near Hazarganji Sabzi Mandi area of Quetta and expressed grief over the loss of precious lives. He extended heartfelt sympathies to the heirs of the deceased and prayed for early recovery of the injured. The CM said that conspiracies hatched by anti-state elements to de-stabilise the country would not succeed. He said that terrorists could not weaken strong determination of the nation through their cowardly acts.
