Aleem Khan’s remand extended

LAHORE: An accountability court on Thursday extended judicial remand of PTI leader Aleem Khan by April 20, an accused of assets beyond means and offshore companies.

The jail authorities produced the accused before the court in a tight security. As the hearing commenced the judge asked the NAB’s prosecutor about filing of reference against the accused. The prosecutor replied that the investigations were under way and it will be filed soon. The prosecutor further said that the bureau had to get more record in this regard.

On this the judge showed his dismay and remarked that submitting final reference was the NAB’s responsibility and it should do it soon. The court extended judicial remand of the accused by April 20, directing NAB to file reference at the earliest.

As per details shared by the NAB on Aleem’s arrest on February 6, the NAB claimed that accused Aleem Khan being the Secretary “Parkview Cooperative Housing Society”, member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab and Minister for Information Technology held the “Public Office” as defined in Section 5(m)(iii) & (iv) of NAO,1999 and during the said period the accused has been involved in the acts of corruption and corrupt practices as defined under section 9(a) of NAO,1999 by way of accumulating assets beyond known sources of income within Pakistan and outside. Moreover, the accused established multiple companies with the purpose of real estate business and invested millions of Rupees. Accused bought more than 900-kanal land in different Mauzas of Lahore in the name of his company.
