Labour federation gives suggestions to govt for budget
Islamabad: The National Labour Federation (NLF) has demanded of the government to announce a relief package for labourers, working and low income class of the country in upcoming financial budget for the year 2019-2010.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the NLF President Shamsur Rehman Swati proposed the Government to increase the minimum monthly wages of the worker from Rs15,000 to Rs30,000. “The minimum pension and old age benefit of workers should also be fixed at Rs15,000 per month,” Swati said.
Giving further proposals to the government, the NLF president said over 60 million workers and labour class which was un-registered should also be registered with the Employees Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) to give some protection to the poor class.
Shamsur Rehman Swati further asked the government to give up plans of privatization of national institution and instead honest and sincere management should be appointed there make those organisations as efficient and profitable.
He also demanded of the government to bring legislation in order to do away with contractual and daily wages system which is meant only for exploitation of workers. He also suggested Government to merge all the ad-hoc allowances in basic salaries.
The NLF president further asked the Government to take measures to address ever increasing price hike and inflation in the country and fulfil its promises made to the masses.
