Three arrested for looting people
PESHAWAR: The police busted a gang involved in looting people carrying money from Chowk Yadgar and arrested its three members, officials said on Saturday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Zahoor Babar Afridi told a press conference that three armed robbers had snatched Rs2.6 million from a trader from Swat when he was carrying the cash from currency market in Chowk Yadgar a few days back.
The official said while investigating the case, the police busted the gang of robbers and recovered Rs2.6 million from them. The SSP said three members of the gang Mushtaq, Ali Rahman and Malik Aman were arrested.
Zahoor Afridi said a number of gangs involved in robberies and street crimes have been busted and huge amount of cash and looted goods recovered from them.
"I have directed the sub-divisional police officers and station house officers to go after the gangs operating in the city to ensure peace in the provincial capital," said the SSP.
A number of gangs are operating in and around Chowk Yadgar who target people carrying cash from the market and rob them in one or the other part of the city after chasing them on motorbikes and cars.
