Sindh likely to cancel fake ownership of Rs8 bn bungalows

Karachi: Sindh revenue authorities are contemplating cancellation of illegal ownership of three bungalows located in the posh area of Karachi Clifton, which were fraudulently shown in official property register of the Sindh government as the property of a lady Uzmat-ul-Zuhra Mirza.
In an official letter (copy available with The News) written to commissioner Karachi by additional deputy commissioner South Muhammad Khan Rind carrying details of fraudulent entries in the official property register it was requested that the ownership should be cancelled under article 164(3) of Sindh Land Revenue act 1962.
According to the documentary evidence available with The News some corrupt elements of the Sindh Revenue Department and Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) changed the status of ownership in property register of Revenue department of these bungalows in official record in the name of Umat-ul-Zuhra Mirza, daughter of Shabaz Mirza.
These bungalows worth Rs8 billion are the property of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC. These bungalows bearing the plot and survey numbers FT-3/29, FT-3/30 and FT3/31, are situated in Karachi’s posh locality Clifton, Farrier Town quarters adjacent old Columbus Hotel near Teen Talwar.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh is also inquiring the matter and has directed the Revenue authorities to produce the whole record. Spokesman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qudsia Kadri confirmed the move and told The News that NAB is inquiring the matter but at this stage no information could be shared with the media.
Additional deputy commissioner (South) Muhammad Khan Rind told The News that some corrupt elements had fraudulently changed the status of the said property in official record. These unscrupulous elements first converted the ownership of Bungalow No 1 plot FT-3/29 in the name of Umat-ul-Zuhra Mirza D/O Shabaz Mirza, then converted the status of second Bungalow No 2 plot and survey number FT-3/ 30 in the name of Rashid Chawla then Qazi Ziaudin Qureshi and finally in the name of same woman Umat-ul-Zuhra Mirza D/O Shabaz Mirza and then third Bungalow No 3 plot and survey number FT-3/31in the name of Umat-ul-Zuhra Mirza. Sindh Revenue department told The News that Umat-ul-Zuhra Mirza is a fake identity and the real owner is some other person.
