DUBAI: The Pakistan Consulate General has introduced social media platforms for expatriates to address their grievances and issues.
Consul General for Pakistan Ahmed Amjad Ali announced this during the celebration of Pakistan Day on the consulate’s premises here on Saturday.
“We launched the consulate’s Twitter and Facebook accounts to enhance our service level and to interact with a huge number of Pakistani expatriates in the UAE,”
Ali informed the Pakistani community that gathered here to celebrate 79th Pakistan Day.
The consulate launched twitter handle @ParepDubai and facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Consulate-General-of-Pakistan-Dubai-514910879037254/ to provide better consular services to the expatriates.
Speaking to reporters, Ali expressed the hope that the social media platforms would help the diplomatic mission to resolve the community issues.
The Pakistani community can now interact with diplomats through these social media platforms for resolution of their issues and problems, the consul general added.
He said the consulate will restart mobile consular services in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman and Sharjah for those community members who could not visit the consulate due to various reasons.
Speaking about the new the existing dilapidated building of the consulate, he said the building would also be demolished soon for construction of a multi-purpose consulate.
The existing building of the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai cannot even accommodate 100 people. Although, more than 1.6 million expatriates live in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it is an uphill task to facilitate the community.
According to the consulate’s figures, more than 500 people visit the mission daily.
