JI marks Pakistan Day
BARA: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) marked Pakistan Day by holding a gathering here on Saturday. JI provincial head Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad said that the Muslims of the sub-continent rendered sacrifices for a separate country. The Muslims passed a resolution in 1940 and on the basis of it Pakistan came into being after seven years, he said. He said that though Pakistan was created in the name of Islam, the successive governments did not implement Sharia rule in the country.
The JI leader criticised the government for failing to honour promises made with the tribespeople before merging the former Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He claimed the government did not give the three percent share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award to the tribal districts. Mushtaq Ahmad called upon the government to merge the services of the Khassadar and Levies force into the KP Police and provide facilities to the residents of the merged districts. JI head for tribal districts Sardar Khan, Khyber district chief Shah Faisal Afridi and others also spoke on the occasion.
