LONDON: Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry MP has expressed concern over recent escalation in Pak-India tension and for the welfare of Kashmiri people due to lingering Kashmir dispute for seven decades.
During her visit to Pakistan High Commission here, she discussed with High Commissioner Mohammad Nafees Zakaria regional situation, recent developments in Pakistan and the United Kingdom, and prospects of promoting bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic field, said a High Commission’s press release issued here on Monday.
The High Commissioner apprised Thornberry of the current status of the situation and briefed her on the steps taken by the government of Pakistan to de-escalate tension, including the Prime Minister’s offer of dialogue, and return of captured Indian pilot as a gesture of peace. The British MP appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s initiative to defuse Pak-India tension.
