Nation suffering from persecution: Khursheed

KARACHI: PPP senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday said why are they being reminded of Rawalpindi again and again as for the PPP the city has become symbolic with an abattoir where our top leadership was executed and assassinated and now they are being dragged into courts there.

He said it is not only the Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani but the entire nation leadership is suffering from severe persecution at the hands of the government.

Talking to the media on Monday after meeting with Siraj Durrani, Khursheed Shah said the PPP supported the democracy but it is like worst dictatorship where the human rights are being trampled.

He said the Speaker of the assembly that had passed the resolution for founding of Pakistan, is being humiliated and his family is being harassed.He said if the Parliamentarians are not safe then who else would be and the entire opposition is united in protesting against the way they are being treated by the government.

He criticised the statements of Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry and said Sindh is not responsible for the deficit of Rs. 200 billion and the federal government should pay Sindh’s share in the NFC. Replying a question about the amendment in the NAB law, he said they had discussed the issue with the government but it is not taking it seriously. Talking about MQM-Pakistan, Khursheed Shah said MQM is helpless because they are in the cabinet.

Khurshid said PPP is trying to pressure the government to reduce inflation and added due to bad economy every child is indebted to the tune of two lakh rupees. The PPP senior leader said Prime Minister Imran Khan has tried to damage the country's unity at a time when India is raising tensions but PPP did not allow that to happen.

About Sh Rashid's statement, the PPP leader said he does not want to give too much importance to that leader.
