Saddar was full of colours, pomp and show and all glitter at the opening of the Pedestrian Street on Friday, which was graced by Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
The traders and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) officials were cheerful as it was an overcrowded affair and till wee hours on Saturday, the festivity continued.
Cantonment Executive Officer Rawalpindi Fahim Zafar Khan was applauded by the crowd as he is the brainchild of the concept and its completion. Old residents of Saddar were overjoyed as they compared it with the old glory of Saddar, which deteriorated fast only to be revived by the Cantonment Board.
The whole Saddar gives a neat look now. The cleanliness and security standard is unprecedented and greenery is outnumbering the concrete structures.
The whole show was a success. Stage performance by the ‘Fire Dancers’ was fabulous and cheered and applauded by all.
Chief guest in his address acknowledged and appreciated CEO Fahim Zafar Khan and his team but at the same time also pointed out the need of citizens to be more sensitive to their responsibilities.
Saddar is a different place now, any visitor to Haider Road, Bank Road and Saddar Road only appreciates all
the uplift and beautifica-
tion work which is in-line
with Mall Road uplift which also got completed recently
