Police ordered to ensure elaborate security in capital

Islamabad: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad Operational Police Waqar Uddin Syed has directed all police officials to ensure fool-proof security arrangements in the capital and ensure combing as well as search operation in their areas.

He issued these directions while chairing a meeting held here at Rescue 15 to review security arrangements in the capital, which was attended among others by all SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and other police officials.

The DIG (Operations) directed for effective patrolling measures in the city, conduct snap checking and ensure strict checking at the entry and exit points of the city. He said that effective combing and search operations should be ensured in various areas of the city including Afghan habits, slum areas, hotels, inns and restaurants.

He asked the relevant DSPs to monitor themselves search operation in their areas and not to make inconvenience for innocent people. DIG (Operations) directed to take further effective steps to control crime in the city and adopt professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.

Issuing special directions to all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs in connection with overall security, he said that no sluggish attitude during performance of duties would be tolerated. He also directed for strict action against those involved in selling or flying kites, aerial firing and pigeon racing activities.

He also directed for effective measures against those involved in drug peddling activities and curb such practices in educational institutions. He asked all SPs to have monitoring and vigilance against policemen supporting such activities or criminal acts and ordered strict action against them. He categorically asked all police officials to focus on resolving the public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens.

Waqar Uddin Syed stressed for speedy disposal of cases and their investigation purely on merit. The DIG asked for objective patrolling measures in the city and to assign duties to policemen after holding meetings.

Special teams should be constituted to curb drug pushing activities, he said adding that no laxity would be tolerated in this regard. He also ordered zero tolerance policy against criminal elements and to use all available resources to curb street crime and arrest absconders.
