Over 112 golfers exhibit skills

Islamabad : We encourage sports by providing a platform to our communities and friends to carry out healthy activities that establish links with other professionals and peers and will continue doing so. This is an opportunity to develop friendships and demonstrate our abilities and interests in different sports.

This was stated by CEO of Serena Hotels Aziz Boolani at the conclusion of the 6th Serena Hotels Invitational Golf Championship, 2019, here.

Mr Boolani said the Serena Hotels Sports Diplomacy Initiative encouraged and promoted healthy activities through interaction among various segments of the society to enhance social wellbeing and cultural development.

The Serena Hotels hosted the event in which 112 golfers of four different categories participated.

The first net trophy from corporate category was claimed by Mustansar Ali Khan, second by Muhammad Zia and third by Shahid Habib, while in the combined diplomatic, government, armed forces and international agencies category, the winner was Wing Commander Zahid Qureshi and the first and second runners up George Rhind and Col Riaz respectively.

Priya Ilango was declared as winner in the women's category and Yani Rhind the runner-up. There was also a special category for the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for Pakistan and the winner was Mustansar Ali Khan and Saleem Shalwani the runner-up.

Riffat Ejaz Noor won the longest drive hole 18, whereas the closest to the pinhole 5 was won by Nadeem Azam and closest to pinhole 12 was won by Zia Khan. There was also a 'hole-in-one' bumper prize of a new car. The holes selected for the prize were No 3 and 12 but no one won it.
