24 more clinics run by quacks sealed in Mithi

The Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) on Friday said its directorate of anti-quackery sealed 24 clinics in District Mithi, Sindh, which were being operated by quacks, bringing the number of sealed clinics to 163 in the province.

So far, 37 healthcare establishments have been conditionally de-sealed for complying with all the prerequisites as per the SHCC Act 2013 and Regulations 2017, an official of the commission said.

The Directorate of Registration and Licensing, SHCC, received 113 new applications for registration and certificates were issued to 35 health care establishments in this week. This brings the number of registration certificates issued by the SHCC to 4,040.

Tibb Standards have been developed by Directorate of Clinical Governance and Training, SHCC, and sent to the Tibb Council for approval.

The Directorate of Complaints, SHCC, has done an inspection of Faiz-Aam Hospital, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Sindh Medical Center ,Hilal-e-Ahmer Hospital, Karachi, and Sambroz Hospital Karachi, and visited OMI Hospital and Jinnah Hospital regarding the complaints received.

Till date, 37 complaints have been received out of which 20 have been resolved.

The chief executive officer (CEO) of the SHCC, Dr Minhaj Qidwai, met with Dr Sara Salman, head of WHO Sub-office Sindh, and Dr Mario Roberto Dal Poz, professor, Institute of Social Medicine, Brazil, to discuss the possibilities of collaborative efforts regarding data-sharing and mapping activities for public and private health providers in Sindh.

Dr Qidwai also met with DIG CIA Arif Hanif and updated him on SHCC activities and requested a meeting with the IGP and other top officials of police.
